Back to School

August 25, 2022

Dear Families,

As a parent, I both regretted and relished receiving the “back to school letter”.  While I was excited for the school year to begin, I also knew it meant that summer was coming to an end.  I suspect that you too are receiving this letter with mixed emotions.  For me personally, I write this letter with great anticipation for a new school year.  But even with more than 30+ years in education, I still find myself having a little less sleep each night as the date draws closer to opening day.

  • Student Safety - In light of the recent tragedies in schools across the country, RSU 63 is making a concerted pro-active effort to ensure that our schools are safe and secure places for children.
  • COVID Protocols - The State has not issued any new guidance thus far for the 22/23 school year and we will continue with many of the same strategies in place at the end of last year (symptomatic students should stay home, daily cleaning and disinfecting, encouraging hand washing, increased ventilation). Our masking policy is more simplified:  Masks are Optional, Respect is Mandatory.  RSU 63 is respecting the individual choice regarding masking and it is the expectation that ALL will be treated respectfully regardless of that choice.
  • School Supplies/Bus Routes - Supply lists have been mailed out to families and will be posted to schools’ websites. Bus routes are posted to the RSU 63 website.  Please note that to help ensure everyone’s safety and the efficient use of our resources we have implemented a bus pass system.  The passes will be distributed to students at the start of school.

I look forward to seeing you soon and hope that you are enjoying these last days of summer…

Regards,

Jared Fulgoni

RSU 63 Interim Superintendent
